What to expect during a remodel or addition, start to finish

By the Resolute team ·July 18, 2026·6 min read

The biggest source of stress in a remodel usually isn't the work itself — it's not knowing what happens next. Here's exactly how our process runs, from the first phone call to the day you get your space back.

01

Consult

We walk your home together and talk through what's actually not working — not just what you think you want, but how you live day to day. For a kitchen, that means understanding how you cook and gather. For an addition, it means understanding what the new space needs to do and how it should connect to the rest of the house. This is also when we talk realistic timeline and budget range, so there are no surprises later.

02

Design & Price

We help you work through layout, materials, and finishes — you don't need to bring your own designer, though we're happy to work alongside one if you have one. Once the scope is defined, you get a clear, itemized written estimate before any work begins. This is also the stage where we pull permits for anything that requires them, including structural changes and additions.

03

Build

One coordinated crew handles the project from demolition through finish work, rather than you managing separate trades yourself. We keep the job site tidy at the end of each day, communicate proactively as work progresses, and flag anything unexpected — a hidden plumbing issue, an electrical surprise behind a wall — as soon as we find it, with options, not just a bigger bill.

04

Final Walkthrough

We don't consider a project finished until every detail is right. The final walkthrough is your chance to go through the completed space together, address anything that needs a final touch-up, and make sure the result matches what we agreed to at the design stage.

How long does this actually take?

Timelines vary by project type:

We give you a realistic schedule specific to your project up front, not a generic estimate.

What you can do to make the process smoother

One team, start to finish

Whether it's a kitchen, a bathroom, a basement, an addition, or a full home renovation, the same four-step process applies because it works — clear planning, an honest price, disciplined building, and a final check that nothing was missed. See our kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, home additions, and whole-home remodeling pages for specifics on each.
